- Description
- The attached document is to answer questions recieved from vendors. AMENDMENT # 1 The above referenced request for quotation is hereby amended to respond to technical questions and extend the deadline for response. (1) The following response is provided to technical questions submitted: QUESTION: According to the specifications in solicitation number SB1341-11-RQ-0526, it states: Must be supplied with one (1) external detector mounting assembly and the capability to automatically switch to the external detector position What is meant by an external mounting assembly? Are you looking for just the detector plate so you can position the detector as needed and use your own optics? Are you looking for an accessory to mount on the side of the FTIR to customize your own experiments? ANSWER: When I referred to an external detector mounting assembly, I was referring to the following. A complete assembly such that I could remove one of the two internal detectors and plug that detector into the external mounting assembly, position the assembly where it was needed, and be able to run without any additional modifications. Hence, the external detector mounting assembly would have all the necessary optics to accept the beam exiting the optical port (we specified an exit port for the beam) and the necessary electronic/electrical cables to be able to control the detector, collect data, etc. The external detector mounting assembly would not be mounted on the side of the spectrometer but located remotely (within reason with respect to distance from the spectrometer) so that I could place a custom optical cell in the beam exiting the spectrometer and mount the detector assembly after the optical cell. QUESTION: I think that there may have been a typo for one of your specifications: 3) Average peak-to-peak noise level: 6.2 x 10-5 Absorbance Units or lower (for 10 consecutive measurements in the spectral range from 2100 cm-1 to 2200 cm-1 performed at a 4 cm-1 spectral resolution with a room temperature DTGS detector, air-cooled source, and KBr beam-splitter) Normally a time interval is specified. For this specification, we would expect to see "for a 5 sec background and 5 sec sample measurement" at the end or somewhere in this specification. ANSWER: "for a 5 sec background and 5 sec sample measurement" (2) The due date for quotations is hereby changed to read as follows: FROM: September 15, 2011, 12:00 p.m. EST TO: September 16, 2011, 3:00 p.m. EST
