Description

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is considering awarding a contract for replacement of original Terry Turbine supplied controls with new digital control package on safety-related steam turbine-driven pump sets at one or more TVA nuclear plants. Turbine driven pumps include Auxiliary Feedwater, High Pressure Coolant Injection and Reactor Core Isolation Cooling systems. Critical supplier capabilities would include replacement of the electronic governor module (EGM), ramp generator signal convertor (RGSC), electronic governor regulator (EGR), remote servo drive, associated control panels, hardware, software, spare parts, installation support and training. This is a nuclear safety-related system, subject to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Quality Assurance regulations and requirements. Replacement components must be provided under NRC's 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B program. A supplier should have recent, proven experience in U.S. commercial nuclear power applications, including successful implementation of upgraded Terry Turbine control systems on Auxiliary Feedwater (AFW), High Pressure Coolant Injection (HPCI) or Reactor Core Isolation Cooling (RCIC).
