- Description
- This is not a request for proposal. The Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) MILSATCOM Systems Directorate (MCSD), Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) Program Office, has awarded solicitation number 10-N010 to the incumbent contractor Boeing Satellite Systems, Inc (BSS) at 900 N. Sepulveda Blvd, El Segundo, CA 90245. The period of performance for this sole source contract will be from August 2010-September 2022. Classification code 18, identified at http://www.fedbizopps.gov/, applies. The original WGS contract was competitively awarded to BSS in January 2001. Boeing produced satellite vehicles (SV) 4-6 on subsequent contracts. As part of the Fiscal Years 2010-2015 Program Decision Memorandum (PDM) III, the Air Force was directed to procure additional WGS satellites to support and maintain an eight-satellite constellation and to begin launching in FY15. On 20 Aug 2010, WGS Block II Follow-On (B2FO) Phase I was awarded, as contract FA8808-10-C-0001, to BSS as a sole source contract. The scope of this contract, through approved J&A, allowed for the procurement of non-recurring engineering and long-lead hardware for SV 7. The scope of the contract includes priced options for the production and launch of SV 7 as well as advance procurement, production and launch for SV's 8-12 based on producing one satellite per year. The current contract action has been negotiated and is awarded on contract FA8808-10-C-0001 through modification number P00006 (Phase II of B2FO). The authority to proceed with this modification falls within the scope of the J&A for contract FA8808-10-C-0001. This modification provides for the procurement of production of SV 7 and advance procurement of SV 8. Two options have been negotiated under this modification as well; one for the production and launch of SV 8 and the second for the production and launch of SV 9. The period of performance for this modification for the production of SV 7 is Aug 2011 through Sept 2015;and Aug 2011 through 28 Feb 2013, for the advance procurement for SV 8.
