- The object of this contract will be to provide an efficient Medical Pathological Waste Disposal service that must be adequate to the needs of the National Institutes of Aging, Baltimore, MD. This contract will be for one base year and two option years. Contractor is to provide services for transportation, disposal, and documentation of the medical and pathological waste (MPW) for the NIA IRP. These services will be for a specified location in the Baltimore Area, specifically the first floor loading dock of the Gerontology Research Center NIA, 5600 Nathan Shock Drive and the second floor of the Biomedical Research Center Room 02B127, 251 Bayview Blvd., Suite 100. Pick up will occur twice weekly on Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 8:30a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Contractor will provide all MPW boxes (15 and 30 gallon), heavy duty biohazard lining bags and tape. The boxes must meet the DOT packaging requirements for transportation of medical and pathological waste. Medical/pathological waste service staff should be trained in the proper handling of biohazards and infectious material. This training should meet or exceed OSHA training standards for biohazards. All packaging, transportation, disposal and documentation of medical and pathological waste must be in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations. Additional pick up services will be performed upon request. Contractor will only pick up properly packaged MPW boxes weighing no more than 40 lbs each. The producer will be asked to repackage boxes that are improperly packaged, damaged and/or exceed the weight limit. The contractor shall notify the contracting officer immediately of any changes in the rate/fee during the life of any resulting contract from this solicitation. The contractor shall bill monthly for services provided, the invoice is to be sent to OFM within 10 business days of the following month and is to meet NIH/OFM requirements for prompt payment. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 562112, Hazardous Waste Collection.
