- The Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT is intending to award the following "Quarterdeck" exhibit display project as a sole source to DisplayCraft Incorporated in Plainville, CT. The Academy has conducted market research and coordinated several site visits with numerous exhibit display companies however, due to its complexity, exact match, quick turnaround and uniqueness the vendors are unable to meet the requirements set forth. We have an existing museum quality display area in our exhibit hall located in Chase Hall. This area is a high traffic, high profile visibility area in a museum like setting. The area is being expanded with updated displays which memorialize past members of the Academy. We are requiring an EXACT duplication of the existing display to maintain and not diminish the look or feel of the exhibit hall. Wall exhibit display #1 with Plexi (letter cost based on "To God I resign my spirit; my life to my country" as copy. The wall panel is 36"W X 96"H. Wall panel 1/2" sanded Plexiglas w/ 3" return & mount to base. The top and bottom panels will extend beyond the center panels as seen in the picture. Top/bottom base - Teak plywood, stain, sealer, lacquer, cut, assemble, embossed Academy & Coast Guard shield and stain. The words will read, "To God I resign my spirit; my life to my country", should be 3/8" thick x 2-7/16" h brass letters, "Natural Satin", installed onto panel. The plaques are 13 7" x 5" Lambda Flex Second Surface 1/4" Plexiglas plaques, with wording to be provided at a later date. Wall exhibit display #2 With Plexi Letter (cost based on "In Keeping with the Highest Traditions of the United States Coast Guard" as copy. Top and base panel - Teak plywood, stain, sealer, lacquer, cut, assemble, embossed Academy & Coast Guard shield and stain. Wall panel 8' h x 13' wide - teak stained plywood. 3/8" thick x 2-7/16" h brass letters, "Natural Satin", install pattern and install onto panel. Academy class grad photos display wooden frame that will hold four inter changeable photo frame (24"x7") to match exact displays in wood and appearance of existing displays. All three exhibit displays have to be installed and completed NLT 19 Sep 2011 prior to the high profile Academy visit scheduled 22 September. Due to the exact duplication complexity of the project, the quick turnaround constraints and conversations with mulitple vendors it is not expected that any vendor other than the original exhibit hall creator will be able to complete the project to include creation of all material, assembly, review and installation by September 19, 2011. Therefore, it is the intent of the Coast Guard Academy to award this project to DisplayCraft Inc. FAR 6.302-1 Any firm that believes they can meet these requirements may give written notification.
