- Description
- NOTICE OF INTENT The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 7, intends to award a sole-source contract to the Institute For Patient-and Family-Centered Care, INC., 6917 Arlington Road STE 309, Bethesda, MD 20814-3601 to provide ongoing support to the current Patient and Family Centered trainers, to increase the number of VISN 7 trainers prepared to teach the four-hour Patient and Family Centered Care All Employee Learning Module that was developed specifically for VISN 7 and to increase the number of patient and family advisors trained to participate and share their stories in staff education on patient centered care. The contractor will provide support with a minimum of six trainer support conference calls for coaching, information sharing, and problem solving: at least 2 calls per module. The contractor will also sponsor two Webinars-one for both New Employee Orientation and All Employee Learning module trainers; the second for Nurse/Nurse Manager module trainers. Trainers will be asked to shape the content of these calls and Webinars- e.g. issues that they need help in addressing, facilitation strategies that have been especially effective, problems that have arisen in providing the training, and requests for new information on specific topics. The conference calls will be 90 minutes in length; the Webinars will be up to two hours in length. In addition, the contractor will develop a similar learning network for staff physician and resident physician trainers. A minimum of four calls will be hosted for these trainers; some of these calls may include nurse manager/leader trainers. Clinicians will assist in planning these calls in order to ensure that they are responsive to the specific learning needs of the trainers. These contractor sponsored calls and Webinars will support VISN 7 Network Education office's development of a learning network for these trainer groups. This is a positive investment in the long-term success of these trainers and their initial efforts. Additional copies of the training materials will be printed to support both the new and existing trainers. The contract project director will be able to be on-site two days during the project year to meet with VISN 7 leadership and others to support the coordination of this work with the Plane tree initiative and other related activities from the National Office for Patient-Centered Care and Cultural Transformation. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or a solicitation for offers. However, parties interested in responding to this notice shall submit technical data, including cost, sufficient to determine capability in providing the same product to Juan A. Jusino, Contracting Officer, at juan.jusino@va.gov or FAX: (478) 274-5771 by August 29, 2011 no later than 2:00 PM EST. All capability statements received by closing of this notification of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
