Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Technology Acquisition Center (TAC) intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract for development and testing of three (3) prototype touch screen nursing triage devices as well as training and documentation development, to DSS Vet, LLC, 12575 US Hwy 1, Suite 200-A, Juno Beach, FL 33408. The three (3) prototype touch screen devices must be delivered no later than 11-months after contract award. Currently, there are a high volume of patients who walk into Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Clinics within the VA healthcare system for unscheduled appointments. Nurses must triage these patients quickly and safely in order to initiate their treatment in a timely manner. Triaging entails taking vital signs and obtaining a pertinent history from the patient. Presently, nurses document these findings in VA's Clinical Patient Record System (CPRS) by writing a progress note using keystrokes and mouse clicks. To streamline this process, VA requires Contractor support to develop three (3) touch screen prototype devices that interface with CPRS and allow nurses to quickly and efficiently triage patients. This effort is issued under the authority of 38 U.S.C. 8127(c), Veterans First Contracting Program. Contracts awarded using this authority are supported by written justifications as required by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-5, "Authorized or required by statute". Deliverables are to be FOB Destination with Inspection/Acceptance at Destination. The solicitation number assigned to this effort is VA118-11-RP-0266 and will be issued on or about August 25, 2011. Performance will be at Contractor facilities. An award date no later than September 15, 2011 is desired. P.O.C. for this acquisition will be Joshua Cohen, 732-440-9696, Joshua.cohen2@va.gov.
