Description
"THIS IS A SUBCONTRACTING OPPORTUNITY" Cassadaga Job Corps Academy Scope of Work Replacement of Boilers in Dorm #1 Cassadaga Job Corps Academy's Dormitory #1 is currently equipped with three (3) 140,000 BTU boilers, originally designed at 83% efficiency. One of the boilers is completely plugged with hard water scale and would not be cost effective to repair given its age and condition. Of the remaining two (2) boilers, one is believed to have a cracked heat exchanger. Should either of these boilers fail, the remaining unit may not be sufficient to heat the facility. The boilers are currently manually operated in hand mode with no provision for "Lead/Lag" operation or "Redundancy". We would like to replace all three 140,000 BTU boilers with three (3) 95.4% efficient Weil McLain Ultra 155's (155,000 BTU) or equivalent. New boilers must each be equipped with dedicated hot water circulators and capable of full modulation to accommodate the temperature changes typically encountered at our facility. Also required is the installation of a direct digital control system for the three new boilers which would automatically rotate the lead boiler based on run time and/or rotate the lead boiler in the event of a failure. This lead/lag rotation will allow the system to automatically detect a failure and bring on the next boiler. The controls system should be able to stage and proportion each boiler to maximize efficiency. The controls will help insure the boilers only operate to meet the needs of the building and not waste energy. In addition, the three-boiler "heating plant" will need to be enabled at 60 degree (adjustable) outside air temperature. Heating water will be scheduled based on outdoor air temperature. The new boilers will be installed in place of the existing boilers. Plan to reuse the existing low water cut-off safety units, thermal wells, and high limit aqua-stats. If necessary, gas lines may need to be modified. New exhaust and outside air ducts may need to be installed as necessary to accommodate the new sealed combustion boilers. If necessary, existing line voltage wiring may need to be modified to accommodate the needs of the new equipment. All new equipment must be fully warranted for one (1) year. All applicable "trade" work will be paid at prevailing rate.
