- Description
- The Postal Service plans to issue a Fixed Price Contract to replace portions of the workroom floor slab and structure at the Pittsburgh Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) located at 1001 California Avenue in Pittsburgh, PA. All work will be done in accordance with USPS approved specifications and drawings. The work includes removal of the asphalt floor tile (asbestos containing), concrete floor slab and metal deck and installing new structural steel, metal deck and a reinforced floor slab using one-component shrinkage-compensated cement-based mortar. Other work included will be inspection of existing welds, the erection of construction barriers, removal of existing fireproofing from steel structure and re-fireproofing steel structure once work is complete and relocation of utilities that are within the slab that is to be removed. The estimated cost of the project is between $1,500,000 and $2,500,000 with construction completion within 365 calendar days from receipt of notice to proceed. Contractors must submit a Qualification Statement with their price proposal. Only the most qualified contractors will be considered. To be considered, the company must be financially capable, shall be within a 200-mile radius of the facility, have a minimum of five years total experience in concrete and structure steel work and have completed two comparable projects within the past five years, one of which may be ongoing. Comparable projects are defined as concrete and structural steel pgrades/replacements/installations at a cost of $1,000,000 or greater. The Qualification Statements will be evaluated in accordance with the criteria stated, in the following order of preference: experience/performance and capabilities. The price proposals for only the the most qualified contractors will be considered. The Postal Service will select the offeror that provides the best value to the Postal Service. A PRE PROPOSAL MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE SITE (POST OFFICE LOBBY) ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2011, AT 10:00 A.M. ATTENDANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
