- Description
- W15P7T-09-R-S152 I2WD BAA NEW Sub-Topic: EW Sub-topic #10 - Hostile Fire Acoustic Sensor Demonstration Technical POC: Doug Wheelock, SFAE-IEW-ASE Email: douglas.wheelock1@us.army.mil Alternative POC: Allan Chan, RDER-IWE-SF Email: allan.chan@us.army.mil I2WD is requesting proposals from industry to support a Hostile Fire Acoustic Sensor demonstration at the CERDEC I2WD Aberdeen Proving Ground facility and live fire testing at a USG test range. Testing will determine the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of industry to develop a low power, light weight Hostile Fire Acoustic Sensor for Army aviation platforms that can be integrated into the existing AAR-57 CMWS A-kit wiring and interface to the CMWS Gen3 ECU. The demonstration will be a competitive prototype development effort with 12 month period of performance, culminating in a live fire test event in late August 2012. The information provided may be used by the Army in developing its acquisition strategy and performance specifications. Sensor prototype requirements and objectives: The sensor shall provide the capability to detect the acoustic shock wave of a supersonic unguided ballistic munition. The sensor shall provide the capability to indicate Angle of Arrival of the acoustic shock wave relative to sensor orientation on the aircraft. Given periodic time ephemeris provided by an external host processor, the sensor shall provide the capability to time stamp the acoustic shock wave event. The sensor command/data interface shall be EIA/TIA 485 serial. The sensor power input shall be 28VDC - 32 VDC. The sensor power consumption shall be less than 5 W (threshold), 4 W (objective). The sensor shall weigh less than 4.5 lbs (threshold), 3.33 lbs (objective). The sensor envelope above the skin of the aircraft shall be less than 2 inches (threshold), 1.25 inches (objective). The sensor components and enclosure shall be designed to be flight worthy for testing on Army rotorcraft. The sensor should be designed with the objective to be transitioned in a follow-on effort to meet all CMWS Airworthiness Qualification Plan (AQP) Environmental and EMI/C requirements. Demonstration program requirements: Contractor shall provide any special test equipment required to verify system performance. Testing will include acoustic data collection at one or more a USG live fire test events, laboratory demonstration and a final USG sponsored live fire testing event. Prototype sensor shall be ready for USG testing 12 months after contract award. System hardware/software shall be TRL 5 or higher as entrance criteria for USG live fire testing. The contractor shall deliver a Test Report at the end of period of performance. The contractor shall deliver a Transition Plan at the end of period of performance for a follow-on effort to re-design the sensor to meet all CMWS AQP Environmental and EMI/C requirements. Proposal instructions: Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or sensitive information contained in their response. Government will provide up to $3.5M per selected contractor. Proposals shall be limited to 30 pages.
