Description
Description of Work: This requirement is comprised of Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) grid intensification plot live/dead re-measures on the White Sulphur Springs, Belt Creek, Judith and Musselshell Ranger Districts of the Lewis and Clark National Forest. There are no additional protocols added on to the standard protocol described in the Grid Intensification Using CSE Protocols Field Procedures (v1.3). The purpose of this project is to determine the level and cause of tree mortality occurring on existing Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) grid plots within the Lewis & Clark National Forest. Tree status (live/dead), Tree class and Damage (category, agent and severity) fields will be updated. If a live tree at installation is found to have died, DBH (diameter at breast height), Tree height and Snag decay measurements will also be taken. There is approximately 1 plot per 1,250 acres across this National Forest System land area. The existing road and trail system (motorized and non-motorized) can be used to access plots off of a road. Private access may be available to reduce travel distance. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies (except those designated as Government-Furnished), and incidentals to perform all work necessary on the areas specified. All aspects of the work program shall be performed in an organized, systematic manner to assure services will be performed over the entire unit. Location: Plots are located in the Castle and Little Belt mountains, Lewis & Clark National Forest. Additional Information: No pre-bid tour will be conducted. Price Range: $25,000 to $150,000. A Firm-Fixed Price contract is expected to result from this solicitation. Interested bidders may contact Darwin Abbott, Helena National Forest (406) 495-3964. The solicitation will be available on approximately 20 August 2011, and can be downloaded from this website at that time.
