Description
This is modification 2 to the synopsis entitled INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION RETURNVEHICLE PRESSURE VESSEL which was posted on July 19, 2011.The purpose of this modification is to answer the following questions below.Question 4: In Section 2.1.3.4 you state the vibration levels but do not state if it isacceptance or qualification. Please clarify.Answer 4: The vibration spectrum is the qualification level. It is anticipated that thetank design will be analyzed for the induced loads, and stress levels will then becompared to the pressure loads. It is anticipated that the induced loads will be verysmall relative to the pressure loads and the requirement could be met by analysis. Assuch, vibration testing may not be required. If analysis suggests that this requirement can only be met by test, then an acceptancelevel will be provided. Typically 2db margin is used between acceptance and qualificationvibration levels. This margin value is provided in this response as guidance, the actualacceptance level has not yet been determined, since it was anticipated that therequirement would be met by analysis.Question 5: Do you have separate spectrums for axial acceleration vs. lateralacceleration?Answer 5: The vibration spectrum applies in any/all directions, since launchconfiguration is not yet defined. NASA prefers to avoid limitations on launchconfiguration; NASA also recognizes that prospective vendors may identify limitations onlaunch direction as part of the design and analysis process. The due date for responses not extended.Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet.
