Description
In accordance with FAR subpart 6.302-1(c) (ii), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a sole contract to Association of Schools of Public Health to provide publication in the journal Public Health Reports The National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) seeks to advance the science of addressing sexual health issues by publishing a supplemental journal issue on Public Health Approaches for Advancing Sexual Health in the United States. While the supplement is slated for publication in 2013, it is supported by FY1 funding. The publication of the supplement will advance scientific knowledge and public health research and policy on approaches to address Sexual Health and may impact CDC's public health work in preventing HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, STD, unintended pregnancy, and sexual violence and also reducing health disparities. The contractor will publish a collection of commentary, scientific and programmatic articles describing approaches for addressing and advancing sexual health in a special supplemental issue of Public Health Reports in spring of 2013 in the standard format for supplemental issues of Public Health Reports. It is envisioned that manuscripts will include both invited articles as well as articles submitted in response to a call for papers.The title of the issue will be Public Health Approaches for Advancing Sexual Health in the United States.. The supplement will be comprised of approximately 10-12 manuscripts with an average estimated length of 5-7 pages. The number of manuscripts will vary and is subject to change based on suitability of each manuscript for publication. The contractor will edit and peer review the articles and provide feedback to the authors. The contractor will design, layout, provide galley proofs to CDC, print, and distribute the supplemental issue to the established readership of the journal. Five hundred additional copies of the issue will be supplied to CDC's National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention The contractor will edit and peer review the articles and provide feedback to the authors. The contractor will design, layout, provide galley proofs to CDC, print, and distribute the supplemental issue to the established readership of the journal. It is the understanding of the Government that an award to any other source would cause unacceptable delays in meeting the requirements of the Government. Interested parties who feel that they possess the capabilities to provide the services described above should submit a capability statement demonstrating their abilities to provide the services. The information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive requirement. Documentation should be received within fifteen (15) days after the date of publication of this synopsis to be considered by CDC. A determination by the CDC not to compete this proposed contract, based upon responses to this notification, is solely within discretion of the government.
