- This requirement is being advertised as a small business set-aside Introduction/Description: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Western Service Area, Los Angeles, CA has a requirement to remove and replace two (2) of the four (4) Air Handling Units (AHU's) servicing the Control Wing Basement. These units were initially installed in the late 1980's. Under this project, each of the two original units will be replaced in turn with only one unit out of service at any one time. Access floor work and electrical work required for the direct replacement will be accomplished under this project. In addition, a stand-alone humidifier will also be provided under this project. The project duration will consist of 4 weeks for the actual replacement, 2 weeks for the air handling controls commissioning and an additional 2 weeks for initial project mobilization and demobilization following the replacement work for a total of 8 weeks actual construction. The below contract duration reflects the above along with twelve (12) weeks of lead time for the procurement of the AHU's. All work must be coordinated in order to maintain an operational facility. The total contract duration for completion of all work is 150 calendar days, excluding the following FAA moratorium: November 18, 2011, 7PM EST - November 28, 2011, 3AM ESTDecember 16, 2011 7PM EST - January 3, 2012, 3AM EST. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price contract to the low priced technically acceptable offer. Contract award will be based on past performance and cost. The offeror must demonstrate successful completion of at least five (5) projects of same or similar magnitude and complexity, completed during the last six (6) years as either the prime contractor or subcontractor. Residential experience will not be acceptable as part of the past performance requirements. The work will be performed in strict accordance with the specifications and contract provisions under the subject contract. Award of a firm-fixed-price contract is being contemplated to a responsible offeror who submits the responsive offer to this requirement.
