- Description
- Contracting Office Address Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Office of Acquisitions, 6120 Executive Boulevard, EPS Suite 600, Room 6074, Rockville, MD 20852, UNITED STATES. Description The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cancer Center Research (CCR), Fluorescence Imaging Facility plans to procure on a sole source basis the brand name Photometrics Evolve EMCCD Camera from Carl Zeiss Microimaging, LLC, One Zeiss Drive, Thornword, NY 10594. This acquisition will be processed in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1). The North American Industry Classification System code is 3341516 and the business size standard is 500 employees. Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract. Delivery Date: 90 days from date of award. The CCR Fluorescence Imaging Facility has a fluorescence microscope capable of tracking single molecules to probe the specific and non-specific interactions of transcription factors with DNA in living cells. Currently the microscope is equipped with two laser lines (473nm and 561nm). The NCI would like to upgrade the system with a third laser line at 405nm, which would enable the facility to perform multicolor single molecule tracking and photoactivation experiments, thus greatly expanding the capability of the system.\ The camera must be compatible with the existing custom-built single molecule microscopy system. The current system is based on an older Photometrics camera, and so the custom designed software that collects the single molecule data communicates with the current camera using the Photometrics PVCAM software. This software is required to read the camera output, and also produce a trigger input to allow synchronization with the lasers that provide the illumination of the specimens. The new camera should use the same PVCAM software to permit a seamless integration with the current system. The following salient characteristics apply to the Photometrics Evolve EMCCD Camera: EM gain Back-Illuminated EM CCD 512 x 512 array (16x16 um pixels) Intelligent FGA design PAR feedback system ACE technology 10 MHz to 1 mHZ readout Dual amplifiers 16 bit digitization Frame-transfer EMCCD TURBO-1394 interface (IEEE-1394a) PVCAM circular buffers, Device sequencing Read noise in EM port (10 MHz, 45e-: 5 MHz, 32e-) Read noise in non-EM port (5 Mhz, 12e-; 1.25 Mhz, 6e-) Bias stability < 0.0006 Gain stability (0.0012) Field uniformity (<1.10) Cooling temperature (-85C) Dark current (0.001e-) Compatibility with the PVCAM software. The Photometrics Evolve EMCCD Camera is the only known commercial instrument with the unique characteristics critical for integration with the current systems at the NCI. The features mentioned above are necessary for the mission of the lab. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party believes they can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if it can meet the above unique specifications described herein. An original and one copy of the capability statement must be received at the NCI Office of Acquisitions on or before 11:00 AM EST on August 11, 2011. No electronic capability statements will be accepted (i.e. email or fax), an original and one copy must be sent to the NCI Office of Acquisitions to the address stated above. All questions must be in writing and can be faxed (301) 402-4513 or emailed to Terry Galloway, Contract Specialist at gallowaytl@mail.nih.gov. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. In order to receive an award, contractors must have valid registration and certification in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) www.ccr.gov and the Online Representations and Certifications Applications (ORCA), http://orca.bpn.gov. No collect calls will be accepted. Please reference solicitation number NCI-110109-TG on all correspondences.
