Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, NIHCS VA Medical Center, 2121 Lake Avenue, Ft Wayne, Indiana 46805 anticipates soliciting bids and consequently awarding a contract for the construction project known as "Upgrade Morgue Ventilation System, B1". The solicitation will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 14 (SEALED BIDDING) and Part 36 (CONSTRUCTION) and will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures therein. The solicitation will be advertised as a Total Set-Aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, supplies, travel, etc. to perform all work under this project which consists of: The current Morgue Ventilation system does not presently meet the VA HVAC guidelines. This project will update the HVAC systems in the Morgue area, including demolition of existing air handling unit serving morgue and separate offices, installation of new dedicated air handling unit serving the morgue area only, installation of additional air handling unit serving separate offices, new exhaust fan, and all ductwork and equipment for new systems as specified in drawings and specifications. This project also includes minor room renovations including but not limited to demolition, plumbing, flooring, electrical, wall finishes, casework installation, and other miscellaneous finishes as indicated on drawings and specifications. The period of performance is to be determined with issuance of solicitation. Magnitude of construction is between $100,000 to $250,000. NAICS Code for this acquisition is 236220 Commercial and Institutional Building Construction. In accordance with the class deviation to 804.1102 Vendor Information Pages (VIP) Database effective October 1, 2010 and with the subsequently passed Public Law 111-275, all SDVOSB and VOSB firms must be verified by the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE) prior to receiving an award under the program. If the successful bidder is listed in the VIP database but is not verified, the CO must contact the bidder and advise the bidder that it has 5 days to request that its verification be expedited. CVE will then make a verification determination within 21 days. A firm MUST be currently listed in the Vendor Information Pages (VIP) to receive this expedited verification. Therefore, SDVOSB firms are strongly urged to be both registered and verified in the VIP database at www.vetbiz.gov prior to bid submission. The solicitation documents including specifications and drawings will be issued on or about August 10, 2011 and will be posted on Federal Business Opportunities. This date is subject to change. Hard copy documents including drawings will not be available - all documents for bidding purposes will be posted at this website for download. Site visit information will be provided upon issuance of solicitation. Only one site visit is planned. Bids will be due 30 days after issuance of solicitation. This notice is for informational purposes only and is not a request for submission of offers. The Government is not obligated to issue a solicitation as a result of this notice. No other information is available until issuance of the solicitation. No bidder list is maintained. All potential bidders should register with Federal Business Opportunities if interested in this acquisition.
