Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), ATC Communications Group, is conducting a Market Survey to improve the Government's understanding of the current marketplace and to identify capable sources to replace Viasat 3.6 meter antennas. The Viasat 3.6 meter antenna is part of the Alaskan Satellite Telecommunications Infrastructure (ASTI) network. There are approximately 62 Viasat 3.6 meter antennas at 31 of the 64 ASTI locations. The antennas range in age from 12 to 17 years. Currently, the FAA has limited spares and no contractual ability to acquire additional antennas in the event of failure, degradation, corrosion, etc. A "draft" specification that describes the RF, mechanical and installation requirements is included with this Market Survey. The FAA's primary objective to acquire an antenna that is a form, fit and function replacement. The FAA also has an interest in reducing the need for a custom antenna and as such requests Industry feedback on requirements that drive customization and limit commercial product lines. The FAA has identified requirements in the draft specification that are labeled "Subject to modification", which Industry should pay particular attention. This survey is being conducted in accordance with FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS) Section 3.2.1.2.1. This survey will support market research obtained from multiple sources and will be utilized for planning purposes only. All interested vendors are advised that the FAA will not pay for any information or any administrative costs incurred that are associated with any response received from industry in response to this Market Survey. Any information provided in response to this market survey will be used for informational purposes only and will not be released. Any proprietary information submitted will be protected if appropriately marked. Vendor participation is not a promise of future business with the FAA. The primary principle North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this effort is 517919.
