Description

Attachment 21 - Photograph Attachment J20 - Drawing 2 of 2 Attachment J20 - Drawing Attachment 7a - Safety Task Assessment Solicitation 2011370011 URS, a prime contractor of the U. S. Government, has a requirement for a subcontractor to remove RCRA metals baked on ash debris from DFX "Feed Chutes" and "Rotary Kiln". The Deactivation Furnace system (DFS) was a natural gas fired furnace maintained at 1100 degree F at the burner end and was used to thermally decontaminate munitions components that had contained GB or VX agents. The DFS consisted of the "Charge / Feed End", the "Rotary Kiln" and the "Heated Discharge Conveyor" (HDC). The last munitions components completed the thermally decontamination process 6/28/08 and the Deactivation Furnace System was then shut down shortly thereafter. All hazardous waste generated from these activities shall be handled in accordance with Federal, Sate, and local requirements. All hazardous waste material handling must comply with URS site procedures and requirements.
