- Description
- Clauses This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The RFQ number is 6-6202-2011 and is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The USDA, Southern Plains Agricultural Research Center, Food & Feed Safety Research Unit, intends to negotiate solely with Pall Life Sciences, Ann Arbor, MI to furnish, deliver and install one GeneDisc Cycler Base Unit (including Touch screen and software); 7 GeneDisc Cycler Sub-units, and 2 days of training for up to 4 persons at the USDA, ARS, SPARC, FFSRU, College Station, TX 77845. PALL Life Sciences are the only provider of this particular laboratory equipment. This machine is unique in that it allows for simultaneous analysis of samples (fecal, hide, swabs) for E. Coli 0157:H7 and Salmonella, something that previously required separate techniques and supplies using basic culture techniques. More importanly, GeneDisc is the only system that has AOAC approval for screening for the top nine non-O157 STECs. The unique duplex detection system with multiplex provides the fastest time to results for O157 and Non-O157 with only two PCR runs. First run provides O157, stx and eae results, meaning that only O157 negative and stx and eae positive results need to be screened for non-O157. This reduces the number of samples needed to screen for non-O157. Compared to traditional microbiology techniques that we currently use for culture of Salmonella, E. Coli O157 and Non-O157 the GeneDisc PCR will provide screening results for all of these pathogens from the same sample, in a fraction of the time and requiring far fewer supplies or manpower. The modular design is the only system that allows to adjust for the number of samples run at any given time. This also gives the flexibility to run different tests (on each cycler) at different times to meet your sample requirements. Samples are rotated through fixed temperature heating blocks eliminating edge effects and temperature variations providing uniform results. Price to include delivery to the USDA, ARS, SPARC, FFSRU, 2881 F&B Road, College Station, Texas 77845. The Government requires delivery within 30 days, so each offeror shall include their proposed delivery schedule as part of their quotation. Acceptance and FOB point are destination. In order to be considered for award offerors shall provide a quotation on company letterhead and include descriptive literature in sufficient detail to evaluate their product against the above minimum specifications.
