- The US Army Contracting Command (USACC) - Picatinny, Benet Laboratories Contracting Center(BLCC), Watervliet Arsenal, NY on behalf of the US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Commands (ARDEC) Benet Laboratories intends to award a sole source contract to FARO Technologies (Large business DUNs#617308929), 250 Technology Park, Lake Mary, FL 32746-6204. The NAICS Code for this acquisition is 334513 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. The Government has a need that requires a supply contract to provide a Faro 10-foot 7-axis Quantum ScanArm to be installed for Bent Labs, Armament Technology Division, Process Engineering Branch in Bldg 40-5. The ScanArm shall be 10-foot in size and feature seven articulating joints. AUTHORITY: This acquisition is being conducted using simplified acquisition procedures and Other Than Full and Open Competition as authorized by Federal Acquisitions Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii) Supplies [are] deemed to be available only from the original source in the case of a follow-on contract for the continued development or production of a major system or highly specialized equipment, including major components thereof, when it is likely that award to any other source would result in substantial duplication of cost to the government that is not expected to be recovered through competition. Responsible offerors may submit a capability statement, or quotation, which shall be considered by the Government; but this notice of intent, is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract lies solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government reserves the right to award without discussions. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive requirement. The closing date for this synopsis is 27 July 2011 16:00 Eastern Standard Time. The anticipated award date is 1 August 2011. The contract will incorporate one or more clauses by reference, with the same force and effect as if they were given in full text.
