Over here is the Meadows Parking garage and at the other end is the River Parking garage. There are a total of 3470 parking spaces at FBCH. In the Rivers garage there are 1380 parking spaces and 1650 in the Meadows garage. Staff will be parking on the upper floors as well as the satellite parking area by the old hospital using the shuttle service to bring them over. We have 400 open spots in front of the hospital and 40 to serve the Emergency Department. There are over 300 handicap spots scattered throughout all the parking areas which are a combination of van and regular handicap parking. There is Stork and Distinguished Visitor parking. To recognize those who are energy conscious and gain us LEED points - there is special parking for carpools and energy efficient vehicles. There are three entrances on the front side of the building - this one gains entry to the Meadows and Sunrise Pavilions, the far entrance is for the River and Eagle Pavilions. The main entrance, Oaks bldg, is the central pavilion entrance. Each has a patient drop off circle. The front corridor connects the North River parking garage to South Meadows parking garage and runs the entire length of the building. The corridor is a quarter mile long. Just to give you a perspective of how big this project is 1.275 million square foot, 55 specialty and outpatient clinics, [with a central utility plant, helipad, and two parking garages]. There are four clinic buildings and the hospital building all known as pavilions and are divided into the North and South. The South side clinics contain specialty care and the North clinics primary care, musculoskeletal and behavioral health. We are entering the Meadows Pavilion located on the south side. Way finding - or how you get around a building - follows an airport model. You start with the signs for the airport > then to the terminal > then the concourse > and finally the gate. Same here - start with signs to the hospital > then to the terminal or in this case the name of the pavilion > then you walk down the concourse to arrive at your gate or clinic. In this main corridor area the patient will see an airport concept and general information will be displayed on the signs. As the patient walks from the hub, there will be more specific signs guiding them to their destination. Additional way finding - each of the buildings has a nature based name and a particular color associated with it as part of the integrated way finding plan. Way finding coming into play in the murals behind each reception desk portraying the naming theme of the pavilion. You will see river/water related murals in this building; eagles/birds in the eagle pavilion; sunrises in Sunrise, meadows in the meadows and in the Oaks - trees and acorns. The room signs all start with the letter of the pavilion name you are in - so R is for River; then the floor followed by the room number. Each of the clinic layouts are almost a copy of the other with the exception of a few specialized exam treatment rooms. There is great synergy between the clinics as they share connecting back corridors and also some front corridors. Each module of the clinic space is 5500 square feet. There are 3 -4 reception desks on each floor of the clinic pavilions. One concept which has been employed is the on stage / off stage. On stage areas are those which the public and patients interact with. The off stage areas are those spaces where the staff work and the support systems - such as housekeeping, supply management, etc run. On stage areas which you have seen so far are the reception areas, patient exam rooms, and the therapy pool - which is a special procedure/treatment area. Off stage areas are places such as offices, staff lounges, clean and soiled utility, and supply rooms. The back corridor connects the two pavilions as an "off stage" area. This set up provides a good opportunity for staff and logistical flow. The perfect example of the on stage off stage concept is Disney World. The first floor of Meadows will have the Dermatology Clinic, Infection Control, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Vaccine Health Center and Optometry Clinic. Second floor Meadows is where you will find the Ophthalmology Clinic, The Laser Surgery Center, Vascular Clinic, Pulmonary and Respiratory Therapy services. In case you were wondering, bronchoscopes will be performed in the endoscopy suite on the 3rd floor of Oaks. First floor of the Sunrise Pavillion houses the VA Clinic, Radiation Oncology and the Breast Care Center. The 2nd floor of Sunrise has the General and Integrated Surgical Services. This is a combined surgical group with General Surgery, Plastics, Neurosurgery, and Thoracic services. In addition there is the Urology, ENT, Audiology and Speech Pathology clinics. On the third floor of Sunrise it is heavy admin with only the Neurology and DVBIC as medical clinics. Human Resources (military and civilian); Resource Management; IG, JAG, Internal Review, Case and Referral Management and Managed Care reside upstairs. ED WAITING I want to just showcase the Emergency Department to all of you. Before we leave the ED, I want to talk about the Oaks Pavilion. Unfortunately due to construction, we aren't able to see all the other areas. The basement of Oaks is an off stage area. There is limited to no patient interaction which takes place downstairs. Logistics, IMD, Facilities Management, Pathology, PADs in and outpatient records, and Sterile Processing are all located in the basement along with Safety, PTMS, Clinical Investigations and the Blood Donor Center. The Blood Donor Center and PAD are the only two areas targeted for patient interaction and are conveniently located directly off the elevator so they don't have to wander through the basement. The first floor of Oaks houses the majority of patient support services. The central area has the AAFES amenities (shoppette and barbershop), lab's specimen collection area, Pharmacy, Tricare Service Center to name a few. The north and south sides of the first floor Oaks contain the Command Suite, administrative support areas, PAO, Chapel, Dental/OMF clinic, OB/GYN, Hematology-Oncology clinic, and Customer Relations. The Emergency Department, Executive Medicine, Red Cross and others round out the first floor. As the Oaks Pavilion rises above the site, the second floor holds the entire radiology department on the north side which has expanded tremendously to offer nuclear medicine and cardiovascular interventional radiology as new services. The operative area is on the south side second deck of the Oaks pavilion. This section has a very centered, focused approach to patient care. The Pre Admission Unit supports the procedural work up for the patient by pulling all the different components together in a single service. All is proximal to the ICU which is a 10 bed unit and another new service for the FBCH beneficiaries. The Third floor will have the endoscopy suites and a Dining Room which is unparalleled. The servery will be more of a food court concept containing a grab and go for folks on the run and a seating area which extends to a roof top outdoor seating area. The Nutrition Care Division will be supporting our inpatient population with a room service system. The hours which NCD is offering truly support the staff, families, and visitors of FBCH (0500 - 0030). HOSP. EDUCATION INPATIENT ROOM: Welcome to an inpatient bedroom. Staff will receive training on these rooms and the technology surrounding them. My Station identifies the type of person (doctor, nurse, etc.) that enters the patient's room using a real time logistics system (RTLS). The intent of this technology is to keep the patient informed who is part of their care team. Vocera will be a communication system used by the staff at FBCH in addition to the traditional phones, blackberries and pagers. The system provides voice communication for mobile personnel worn on lanyard device There are four inpatient floors in the Oaks pavilion. The 4th floor houses many functions of the Behavioral Health line. There is an inpatient unit, a residential substance abuse wing, and consultative services. The 5th floor is our mother baby area. The Labor and Delivery wing has 6 labor rooms and 2 cesarean suites. There is a special care nursery level 2b for babies who might need a little more attention. The post partum wing focuses on couplet care. The 6th floor has the surgical ward on the northern wing and the pediatric on the southern. On the 7th floor we have the medical -surgical telemetry unit on the northern wing and the medical ward o the southern wing. There are 110 inpatient rooms in the hospital for a 120 bed total - some are double rooms on the inpatient behavioral health unit. One feature that I would point out is the pneumatic tube system. The PTS is located in all clinic buildings and the Oaks pavilion. This logistical transport system allows for smaller items to move throughout the entire facility and saving on travel time and distance by staff. They can be programmed as speed dials to those locations which a particular area sends to frequently. There is a monitor board to help track tubes in the control room. The Eagle Pavillion 1st floor has the Allergy and Immunology clinic and the Family Medicine clinic. Second floor has the GI, Cardiology, and Occupational Health and Community Health nursing clinics. Rounding out the pavilion on the 3rd floor is the Physical Therapy, Orthopedic and Podiatry, PMR, and Sports Medicine clinics. The last of the pavilions is River. River pavilion has Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, along with the physical therapy pool on the first floor. In the far corner with a separate entrance is the CAPHs program (child and adolescent partial hospitalization). The second floor contains the adult behavior health clinics and a variety of social work services. In addition, Occupational Therapy and the TBI program are located up there. MOVE TO MEADOWS The front corridor connects the North River parking garage to South Meadows parking garage and runs the entire length of the building. The corridor is a quarter mile long. Just to give you a perspective of how big this project is 1.275 million square foot, 55 specialty and outpatient clinics, [with a central utility plant, helipad, and two parking garages]. I know that you probably feel you have walked most of that million plus square footage, but I feel that we merely touched the surface of all this facility offers. The world class distinction of the facility is only the bricks and mortar for what you, the staff of FBCH, will do on a daily basis to make Patient Family Centered Care in a Culture of Excellence a reality. It is important to point out the WTU complex which is located across the street. The CUP is the central utility plant. It is where all of the emergency generators and mechanicals originate which then travel through a tunnel to the main building. And lastly, the helipad. END TOUR
