Description
The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility in collaboration with the Naval Safety Center is soliciting product specification and performance information for commercially available thermal protective shoulder length gloves. The purpose of the gloves is to protect the lower and upper arms and hands of personnel while retrieving various kitchen utensils and cookware, which are sitting in scalding hot water for sanitation purposes. The gloves must be water resistant and detergent resistant, and provide thermal protection to the hands and arms against water which is 120 degrees Fahrenheit while allowing tactile dexterity to grip wet utensils and cookware. The gloves must remain on the upper arms during work activities and not slip off revealing unprotected areas. The gloves must be fitted to different hand sizes from small to extra large. Specification sheets, drawings, photographs, and/or samples are requested from all interested sources at no cost to the Government. Product information shall be submitted at no expense to the Government and will not be returned. Proprietary data MUST be marked on a page-by-page basis, and will be kept confidential and protected in accordance with the Uniform Trades Secret Act. Interested sources shall state whether their product is available commercially and made domestically of domestic materials (must be Berry compliant - manufacturers must list the origin and place of manufacturing operations of all components). This announcement is NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL nor does the Government intend to pay for any information submitted in response to this synopsis. This synopsis does not commit the Government to award a contract. This synopsis is for market research only and any procurement resulting from this announcement will be synopsized separately. Companies responding to this request for information should send all responses to LCDR Tim Jirus, Naval Safety Center Liaison Office, 2000 Navy Pentagon, Room 5C256, Washington, DC 20350-2000, 703-695-7233, timothy.jirus@navy.mil.
