Description
This is a notice of intent to award a sole source procurement to the URENCO group in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 subject to the availability of funds. The supplies or services required by the agency are available from only one responsible source. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed procurement action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The U.S. Department of Energy will not reimburse for any costs connected with providing the capability information. The following supplies are required for the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) New Brunswick Laboratory (NBL). NBL requires 1,000 grams of low-enriched uranium, Chemical/physical form: UF 6, 235 U in the range of 3.50 weight % to 4.95 weight %. The uranium shall be drawn from a single homogenized source of UF 6. The UF 6 shall be packaged in five 1S bottles/1S cylinders, each 1S bottle to contain approximately 200 grams of low-enriched uranium and be delivered to NBL or another facility selected by NBL no later than March 1, 2012. The 1S sample bottles shall be handled according to ANSI N14.1 criteria for packaging of UF6 for transport. The enriched uranium delivered to NBL shall conform to the most currently applicable ASTM C996 standard specification for UF 6 enriched to less than 5% 235 U. If an additional responsible source exists, it may submit a capability statement which shall be considered by the agency. This procurement is currently open to all business concerns. This may change depending on the information provided by interested parties. The North American Industrial Classification Code (NAICS) is 325188. This is a negotiated procurement; there will not be a public bid opening. All interested firms must respond by July 22, 2011, 2:00 p.m. Central Time to Lisa M. If it is determined that this will not be a sole source procurement, the solicitation will be provided via FedBizOpps.
