Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) intends to negotiate with Bausch & Lomb Incorporated for a three (3) year placement of ophthalmology equipment, including, but not limited to the following: 1.Two (2) Phacoemulsification units with Vacuum Fluidics; 2.Six (6) Ultrasound-headpieces with 28.5 kHz resonant frequency; and, 3.A one-year service agreement for both phacoemulsification units (including any and all ancillary parts); as well as a minimum 1-year replacement warranty on new handsets and 6 month warranty on demo headpieces. This contract will be for a period of one year with the option to renew on a yearly basis for two additional years. This contract will not exceed three (3) years in total. The initial contract period is expected to begin July 15, 2011 and run through July 14, 2012. Each subsequent exercised option year will utilize this same time frame for that applicable year. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one (1) source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(i)(A,B). This procurement is based on the determination that the government's minimum agency need can best be satisfied from only one source. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the Government. All responses received on or before 13 Jul 11, will be considered. To be eligible for consideration, contractors shall be registered in the Central Contractor Registration data base at www.ccr.gov. The NAICS Code is 339112. Registration is free and potential offerors are encouraged to visit that CCR website and register as soon as possible to avoid delays should they be selected for a contract award.
