Description
The ADAPT program is particularly looking to investigate innovative approaches to building ISR systems. For example, how might commercial practices be used to accelerate the development and delivery of ISR systems without burdening the resulting systems with the limitations typically found in the military use of commercial technology (e.g., limitations in performance, security, reliability or assured operation)? The elements of the ADAPT concept are divided into three areas: A reusable hardware core, reusable software, and sensor-specific applications. The reusable hardware core can leverage low-cost commercial components available at the time of manufacture, enabling it to be refreshed at the rate of commercial technologies. The reusable software encompasses core system software that will provide an operating system and open-source applications that provide functionality common among various ISR implementations. System integrators can leverage the core hardware, software, and application library to develop and field systems to instantiate sensor-specific capabilities through adjunct hardware and software.
