- Description
- This is a pre-solicitation synopsis in accordance with FAR Part 5. The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center has a requirement for Marine Pipefitter Services. The Government anticipates awarding a requirements type contract for one (1) base year and four (4) option years. The NAICS code for this requirement is 238220 and the small business size standard is 1,000 employees. All work will be performed at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard, Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD on vessels both in dry-dock and pier side. The requirement for the Marine Pipefitter Services will be fulfilled using the procedures of FAR Part 12. The formal solicitation, the Request for Quote (RFQ), will tentatively be posted to FedBizOpps on July 15, 2011. Performance shall include at a minimum: Develop work from blueprints and work orders in accordance with measurements, template developments, layouts, and fixtures. Make preliminary determination of materials required: Fabricate, install, modify, repair and test iron, steel, brass, monel, copper, copper-nickel, stainless steel, plastic pipe and a wide variety of hoses. Cut threads and bend pipe. Assemble pipe fittings using various types of shop machinery and equipment. Brazing and soldering. Assemble various types of pressure tight joints. Install piping, hangers, brackets and other supporting fixtures. Position and align pieces for welding when required; arrange for welding with the pipefitting supervisor or leader. Clean piping and components with acid and solvents. The contractor shall be responsible for all basic hand tools and safety equipment for the assigned employees: Hand tools include but not limited to: level, measuring tape, pipe wrenches, hacksaw, torpedo magnetic level, channel locks, Crescent wrenches, standard and phillip screwdrivers, combination open/box end wrenches, ball peen hammers, and ratchet drive set. Required safety equipment includes but not limited to: helmets, safety glasses and shoes, respirators, hearing protection. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which, if timely received and in accordance with the solicitation, shall be considered by this agency. Responses shall be concise and be specifically directed to the requirement referenced above. It is the offerors responsibility to monitor FedBizOpps for changes or amendments to this notice.
