Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eastern Region Acquisitions Division-Kansas City office intends to award, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission to provide the Annual Nuclear Regulatory Commission License #21-16544-01, Category 1D - Special Nuclear Material and Category 3M, Byproduct Material for the period of performance of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 at the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) Lake Michigan Field Station in Muskegon, MI. A sources sought notice was posted to FedBizOpps on June 22, 2011 and closed on June 27, 2011. No responses were received. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission is the only known source for the issuance of licenses to use radioactive matter in the state of Michigan. The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act requires that the U.S. Regulatory Commission recover most of its budget authority through fees assessed to applicants for an NRC license and to holders of NRC licenses. The fees are assessed in accordance with the NRC regulations in Title 10 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations. The Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory requires the NRC Radioactive Materials License for research purposes.
