- Description
- The US Geological Survey (USGS) located in Sacramento, CA is conducting a market research /sources sought to identify business sources having the experience and resources to support a requirement for Pack Station Services within the area of Bishop, CA. This sources sought synopsis is issued for the sole purpose of conducting market research in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 10. This market survey / sources sought announcement is not a request for proposals and the Government is not committed to award a contract pursuant to this announcement. The information from this market research is for planning purposes only and will assist the Government in planning its acquisition strategy. Any responses to this sources sought will be treated as information only. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this market survey. The packer and mules will be required to take equipment up to various locations including Shepherds Pass, Tyndall Bowl, Dusy Basin and Pine Creek. The equipment carried by the mules is being used to measure herbivory, seed predation, and woody species colonization in meadows as part of the National Climate Change and Wildlife Center (NCCWSC) project. Each trip may require the use of approximately 6 mules to carry the equipment to and from the destination. The expected dates of the trip are dependent upon the snow melt and availability of mules. Approximately 4-6 USGS employees will be hiking on the trips. The trip is expected to take the packer 1 day: The packer will pack the equipment to the lake and return the same day. We expect that the USGS employees will take 3 nights/4 days (may be more in some cases) to set up the equipment needed to complete this part of the project. Vendors are required to have permits for the areas traveled. All vendors must be certified with the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database at www.ccr.gov All Interested parties who can meet the above requirements may submit a written capability statement (Please include DUNS number) no later than 05 July 2011, via email or fax to the Contract Specialist: Gerry Lewandowski glewando@usgs.gov or fax (916) 278-9339.
