- Description
- The National Park Service will be soliciting bids for the removal and replacement of the conifer tree barrier located at Vanderbilt Mansion. The project area is along the eastern boundary of the park, along route 9, and consists of 6.7 acres. The intent of the planting is to form a visual screen or barrier between the estate grounds on the west and U. S. Highway Route 9 on the east. A strict row planting is acceptable but no required. Some stump removal may be required. White pine will form the majority of the barrier with a double row of smaller hemlock on the western edge. White pine shall be set back a distance of 15 feet from the stone wall which forms the eastern property boundary. The magnitude of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000. This project is not set aside for small business. The project may be obtained on or about July 5, 2011 from https://www.fbo.gov or https://ideasec.nbc.gov.
