Description
The US Army Tank and Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC) requests information on existing full vehicle blast mitigation capabilities currently available to protect Light Tactical Vehicle occupants from Objective (O) M ATV level or Threshold (T) M-ATV level* underbody threats. The most important technical considerations will focus on existing full vehicle level blast mitigating systems (as opposed to individual systems), which may include but are not limited to, underbody shaping, cab stiffness, energy absorbing interior crew floor, blast mitigating seats, and any other existing mitigating technologies. This RFI is exclusively interested in existing full vehicle designs that are available to start comparative testing by 25 July 2011. The government intends to enter into multiple appropriate Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) to quantify the effectiveness of existing vehicle level blast mitigation strategies and for compilation of data and comparison of approaches. Blast mitigation strategies submitted will be compared with respect to the level of mitigation of occupant injuries as rated against the Head Injury Criteria (HIC), Dynamic Response Index (DRI), Revised Tibia Index (RTI), and blunt trauma injury criteria. The overall program objective is to gain knowledge for comparative analysis of blast injury mitigation for vehicle level strategies, for potential consideration in current and future programs. *As Amended (A00002)
