- Remove floor finishes (carpet tiles, vinyl composition tile and asbestos containing mastic from basement floors). Remove 8" masonry block from pipe chase to provide access to sewer piping. Saw cut 8" thick concrete floor slab and remove as required to remove and replace sewer pipe. Hand excavate existing sewer pipe below floor slab. Remove existing 6" cast iron sewer pipe from pipe chase and under slab. Install new 6" cast iron and PVC sewer pipe and fittings. Patch trench in concrete floor slab. Install new floor finishes (carpet tiles and vinyl composition tile). Install new fire rated access door in pipe chase.
