Description
Statement of Work for Gravel Hauling The USDA, Agricultural Research Service has a need for transporting primary reject gravel from the State of Idaho gravel source to the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station, which is located 4 miles north (exit 172) of Dubois, Idaho. The gravel is located on 35 th West. Directions are, take exit 113 (south of Idaho Falls, also known as DAD'S truck stop) from I-15, and turn east approximately ¾ of a mile. Turn north (left) onto 35 th West and the gate to the gravel source is approximately ½ mile on the east side of the road. Following are the requirements of the job: •1. Provide all labor, supplies and equipment necessary to Load, Transport and Unload, primary reject gravel from the Idaho State Transportation Department's pit # BN 1285, which is located approximately 67 miles south of the U. S. Sheep Experiment Station. The primary reject gravel is currently piled behind a locked fence. •A. Contractor may use standard Dump trucks, Belly dumps or End dumps for hauling the reject gravel. •B. Contractor must furnish a loader and operator at the Idaho State Gravel Source that is capable of loading the transport trucks. The gravel will be hauled in bulk. •C. Gravel shall be unloaded in a designated area at the USDA/ARS headquarters location. An ARS employee, using government equipment, will pile the loads of gravel daily. •D. Gravel can only be delivered during the period, Monday - Friday (no holidays), 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. •E. Each load of gravel delivered to USDA/ARS will have a weigh slip from a certified scale. There is a scale located in Dubois at the Larsen Hay Terminal; the contractor may make arrangements to use, or find another scale. Each weigh slip must have a net weight. •F. The quantity is 300 cubic yards of gravel delivered, with an option of an additional 300 cubic yards (option is base on funds available). •G. Payment will be made based on a total cubic yards delivered. Each cubic yard weighs 2,538 pounds. Each truck load of gravel weight will be divided by 2,538 in order to determine the total yards delivered. •H. Period of Performance is June 27, 2011 through July 29, 2011. •I. Contractor is responsible for verifying mileage and locating certified scale. Contractor may schedule a site visit at the USDA facility. USDA needs a 24 hour prior notice before site visit so the proper person is here on site. Hauling Specifications: The gravel is loose; in bulk, the contractor is responsible for providing a loader to load their trucks. The contractor may leave their loader and or trucks at the gravel source, but USDA or the State of Idaho will assume NO Responsibility for damages, vandalisms, etc... Contractor may use Standard Dump trucks or End/Side/Belly dump trucks for transporting the bulk gravel. The government will pile the loads of gravel daily with their own equipment. The contractor will provide a weight ticket (with a net gravel weight) with each load of gravel. This will allow both parties to keep tract of the amount of the product being delivered. The contractor will assume all responsibility for proper loading, transporting and unloading the gravel. There is no loading dock at the gravel source for the contractor to use for unloading their loader
