Description
The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District is hosting a pre-solicitation conference for the upcoming Corpus Christi Ship Channel, La Quinta Channel Extension, Pipeline Dredging 2011 procurement. The intent of this conference is to have open communication with potential pipeline dredging contractors prior to the release of the final solicitation package. This conference will be held via teleconference on June 22, 2011 at 09:00 CST. The Corpus Christi Ship Channel, La Quinta Channel Extension, Pipeline Dredging 2011 contract will consist of dredging to remove approximately 6,000,000 cubic yards associated with new channel extension and subsequent construction of new open bay beneficial use (BU) site. This job involves dredging previously undisturbed bay bottom to a depth of -41 ft. to extend the La Quinta Channel by a distance of 1.4 miles. Subsequent placement of the dredged clays will be required in adjacent open bay to create a 2-mile long solid clay levee which will be rock armored to +9 ft. MLT. This 2-mile levee will form the eastern, southern, and western edges of a new 190-acre BU site. Dredged clayey materials will also be placed along the northern levee alignment up to +1 ft. MLT enclosing the new BU site. Additional material to be dredged will then be placed in the BU site to provide a bed for future sea grass development following completion of the levee system. Remaining dredged material not used in the construction and filling of the BU site will be placed in adjacent upland placement areas 13 and 14. A "DRAFT" copy of the technical specification, plans, and available geotechnical studies are attached. Topics for the conference include but are not limited to: scope of work, site conditions, sequence and placement methods for the BU site, construction methods for the levee, project schedule, and questions and comments. Items discussed during the solicitation are subject to change, and potential bidders are encouraged to read the complete solicitation package when issued.
