Description
The purpose of this amendment is to answer technical questions and revise the closing date and time for receipt of quotes. Accordingly: 1. The hour and date for receipt of quotations is hereby extended to Monday, June 6, 2011, 14:30 EST. 2. All other terms and conditions as previously established remain the same. The technical questions and responses are as follows: 1) Question - In regard to the Subject Solicitation for 16 samples each for toxicity testing with Fathead Minnow and Ceriodaphnia dubia; the methods do not specify if testing should be with 100% effluent and a control or if there will be dilutions, i.e. 100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5% and 6%, as is typical for many NPDES permits for instance. The difference is with 100% and a control there are two tests and with the dilutions there are 6 tests which need to be run. Please advise. Response - Two different sets of dilutions for the chronic tests are as follows (a total of 8 sites, see table below), a. One effluent sample site: Control, 25, 35, 50, 71, and 100% b. Remaining seven sample ambient stream sites: Control and 100%. We would like to use the results to support an existing permit and be able to calculate an acute result from the chronic test observations. This will require daily observation and daily documentation/reporting instead of just the cumulative reporting. Samples will be delivered 3 times for the high flow (total of six 1-gallon containers for each station) and 3 times (total of six 1-gallon containers for each station) for the low flow per the R3-QA1509.2 and R3-QA15010.2 documents. The total samples shipped for high or for low flow and dilution concentrations are summarized in the table below. Station Sample containers Day -1 Sample containers Day 2 Sample containers Day 4 Total Samples 4ASRE033.19* 2 2 2 6 4ASRE031.00* 2 2 2 6 4ASRE024.30* 2 2 2 6 4ASRE022.90* 2 2 2 6 WWTP Effluent** 2 2 2 6 4ASRE022.30* 2 2 2 6 4ASRE019.00* 2 2 2 6 4ASRE015.43* 2 2 2 6 Totals 16 16 16 54 *Instream Ambient samples. Only 100% ambient water and control water used in tests. **Dilution concentrations of 100, 71, 50, 35, and 25%. Smaller sample volume may be shipped if possible for day 1 and 2, if details meet method QA/QC requirements, especially for non-effluent samples needing less volume (will be coordinated with laboratory). Note: The two sampling events will correspond to 1. a storm event sampling period and 2. base flow during benthic monitoring period (next fall). The high flow sample will likely be taken in July (our wettest month) to correspond to a significant storm event and involves coordination with the laboratory and about one week or more notice. 2) Question - Are dilutions (e.g. 100, 50, 25, 12.5 and 6.25%) of the ambient samples to be tested, or is 100% concentration only to be tested? Response - See response above. 3) Question - Will the samples be delivered in two batches of 8 samples (i.e. 8 stations at low flow and 8 stations at high flow)? Response - Samples will be collected from eight (8) sites. One batch of high-flow samples and one batch of low-flow samples will be sent at different times. The two sampling events will correspond to 1. a storm event sampling period and 2. base flow during benthic monitoring period (next fall). The high flow sample will likely be taken in July (our wettest month) to correspond to a significant storm event and involves coordination with the laboratory and about one week or more notice.
