Description
This notice cancels plans for an industry day for undersea sensor technologies under Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) N0002410IWS5A01, issued on 8 June 2010; adds a new area of research interest; and encourages the submittal of White Papers by 30 June 2011. BAA N0002410IWS5A01, paragraph 1.0, advised contractors that Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) 5A, Advanced Development Office for Undersea Systems, was soliciting proposals for research interests in advanced undersea technologies in the areas of processing, organic and distributed sensors. It also indicated that industry days may be conducted in order to elaborate on these areas of research interest. However, it was decided that an industry day specifically for Undersea Sensor Technologies, as stated under paragraph 1.3 of the BAA, will not be held. Instead, contractors are encouraged to submit their White Papers for Undersea Sensor, Handling and Communications Technologies, as indicated under paragraph 1.2 C) of the BAA, as well as a newly added area of interest Sensor Handling System consisting of a mobile unmanned, fully autonomous submersible vehicle that can carry, deploy and tow an Autonomous Burial Vehicle (ABV) for a sensor system (array) , by 30 June 2011. In elaboration of the newly added research interest for a Sensor Handling System above, the requirements are: Carry Distance: 10 kilometers; Nominal Bollard Thrust: 500 pounds; Tow Altitude: 7 meters off seafloor; Nominal Tow Speed: 2 knots; Maximum Depth: 500 feet; Length of Array: 1000 meters; Array Straightness: 90% aperture per 500 meter leg; ABV Weight: 300 pounds; and first tow vehicle demonstration: 6 months after program start. Note: The closing date for this BAA N0002410IWS5A01 has been extended to 30 June 2011. The information provided is for information only and is not a Request for Proposal or announcement of a solicitation. This synopsis does not constitute an Invitation for Bid or Request for Proposal, and it is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a contract or order. The Government will not pay for any effort expended or any material provided in response to this announcement nor will the Government return any data provided.
