This notice is not request for competitive proposals or quotes. The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), Tucson, AZ 85723 intends to award a firm fixed-price contract with McKesson Automation Inc, 500 Cranberry Woods, Ste 400, Cranberry Township, PA on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The acquisition will be accomplished using commercial item procedures in accordance with FAR Part 12 for the purchase of McKesson Automation Acudose Rx Cabinets. If the sole source Justification & Approval is approved, it will be posted on Federal Business Opportunities within fourteen days after the contract award. The new Acudose Rx equipment will account for the new designes in the Multi-Purpose Unit (MPU), the Operating Room (OR), the Emergency Department (ED) and the Gastro-Intestinal (GI) expansion as well as the outpatient clinic areas that currently dispense ward-stocked items from Omni-Cell supply cabinets. These cabinets allow the user to remove medications without electronic reconciliation of the patients' medical records. Bypassing this important automated process allows for increased vulnerability to medication dispensing errors and adverse patient events. New, high-capacity Acudose Rx medication cabinets will increase safety though patient specific dispensing of ward-stock medications. Removing the current medications stocked in Omni-Cell and placing them in high-capacity Acudose Rx cabinets will allow for increased medication security and safety by patient profile dispensing and allow the pharmacy a higher capacity to track non-controlled medications to meet future directives and initiatives. The equipment is required to interface with other McKesson Automation equipment (McKesson software, MedCarousel, etc.) and will have the capability to interface with the VA's Veterans health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA). Market research has been conducted and it has been justified in accordance with FAR 6.301-1. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 423450.
