- The U.S. Department of State is conducting market research to identify potential sources for the below referenced requirements. Any offeror that can meet or exceed the requirements as stated are encouraged to send in information as requested below. The Government is requesting information in the form of resumes from interested sources for this market survey. Interested firms should submit an email package no later than the 1st of June, 2011 to William Todd email address is toddwe2@state.gov. The following information should be part of the response email notice of interest: Contractor name; Dunn and Bradstreet Number, Cage Code and Headquarters address; Point of contact with telephone number and email address; Size of business; and country represented in which manufacturing takes place; All submittals should include at least three (3) points of contact from Government or other types of corporate references that have used your firms proposed candidates services. All package submittals should include resumes of the proposed candidates along with the aforementioned. Requirements: Position Description Furniture Specialist I. INTRODUCTION This position serves as a Furniture Specialist with the United State Department of State (DOS). The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to Interior Designers and Project Managers in all furnishing related matters and to co-ordinate and monitor product and service deliverables by furnishing related contractors. The incumbent keeps current furnishings information relating to but not limited to products, services, lead times, GSA Contracts, sustainability and ergonomics. II. MAJOR DUTIES  Leads the effort to coordinate furnishings from award through project closeout including purchase order tracking, order status reports, scheduling product deliveries, loading docks, elevators, security and escorts  Responsible for all aspects of record keeping of furnishing awards, including the business management of the most complex furnishing awards from issue through completion  Record fiscal and associated data for each furnishings award in spreadsheets and identified database to allow accurate access by team to award activity real time and historically  Assist interior designer in resolving problems or conflicts impeding progress, assuring that vendor and agency staffs work effectively as a team to complete the project in accordance with established timelines and budget  Ensures and provides quality customer service and support to diverse customer base through the assessment of customer's needs and satisfaction of customer expectations  Communicate to the interior designer and Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) all award related activity.  Maintain a current comprehensive resource library including but not limited to internal process templates, vendor contacts, product catalogs, cut sheets, specifications, samples, environmental technical data, General Service Administration and Federal acquisitions and other regulations affecting specification and use of interior furnishings  Coordinates on shipping and installation of furnishings and coordinates with the Construction office and GSA to confirm construction schedules, changes in project requirements and site conditions all the while keeping the interior designer appraised of progress, problems, solutions, schedules and costs  Performs other duties as assigned III. CLASSIFICATION FACTORS  Familiarity with the concepts, practices and methodologies of project management involving construction, renovation of existing facilities or lease build-out is required when coordinating with team members and overseeing vendors; this knowledge includes the principals of budgeting, work scheduling and procurement  Experience and skill sufficient to provide solutions to problems arising from delays, omission and/or revisions  Ability to interpret working drawings, design specifications, and familiarity with construction standards  Working knowledge of contracting and procurement laws, regulations, practices, procedures and processes are required in order to detect and/or recognize inconsistencies  Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with individuals and groups interested in or affected by the same common goal(s), creating a cohesive working environment among all interested parties  Knowledge of the General Service Administration funding process, the Federal budget process and principles of budgeting Supervisory Controls As a furniture specialist, the incumbent receives administrative direction from the Division Chief and/or Branch Chief. The incumbent receives project related supervision from the project manager and interior designer. The incumbent is responsible for planning and scheduling work and independently carrying out assignments. Complexity The incumbent serves as a furniture specialist for multiple concurrent projects ranging in size from small to large office and multi-purpose facilities. These typically involve the expenditure of millions of dollars over multi-year periods. All projects have unusual combinations of diverse characteristics. Personal Contacts There are frequent and recurring contacts with Executive Bureaus, Building Facilities Services, Security, Acquisition Logistics Management as well as General Service Officers, General Service Administration points of contact and varied representatives of supplier firms. The incumbent coordinates project elements and work schedules across a variety of vendors, suppliers, and field office and installation personnel. Physical Demands The work takes place primarily in the DC metropolitan area. Work is both sedentary and dynamic when monitoring site activities under varied weather conditions. It may require extended hours in the performance of after hour deliveries and installations. Work Environment The work is accomplished primarily in an office setting and secondarily at on-going construction sites. V.
