Description

This project will provide for repairs to Wharf F electrical and structural repairs thereby insuring a return to customary operational level. Repairs consist of replacing the deck, piles, electrical components and structural element. This will enable the Wharf to accommodate the future and current berthing requirements of inactive vessels that Navy Inactive Ships maintenance Office (NISMO) will have berthed at PNY Annex. Demolition shall consist of the structure, pile caps and timber piles. The Wharf F shall be demolished to accommodate the driving of concrete piles and replacement of existing concrete deck with new pre-stressed concrete deck Pile supported Wharf shall be built to replace the existing Wharf F. The driving of these concrete piles shall be integral to the existing timber piles. A concrete pile cap and concrete decking for each weight handling equipment in loading/unloading areas shall be repaired according to standard civil engineering practices with various sized rebar framing. The UFC 4-152-01, "Piers and Wharves" provide minimum facility planning and design criteria for efficient home porting facilities of Naval Vessels. All design criteria efforts shall follow ACI, AISC and AF7PA Codes to complete a safe and efficient structure. Mooring hardware is in poor condition requiring repair or repair by replacement and therefore shall be demolished with the existing structure. Electrical work shall consist of a ship to shore stations, necessary transformers along with associated breakers and cabling.
