Description
This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the onlysolicitation; offers are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.This notice is being issued as a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for: ITEM 1, Qty. 50 sets,SPIRAL BEVEL GEARS and ITEM 2, Qty. 1 GLEASON SUMMARY.SPECIFICATIONS:The Contractor shall deliver a quantity of 50 sets of spiral bevel gears. Each setconsists of a pinion and a gear to be designed to specifications identified in NASAdrawings RTAPS010001(gear) and RTAP010002 (pinion). In addition to the delivery of thegears, the Contractor shall provide an electronic report of a Gleason summary of thespiral bevel gear geometries and fabrication set-up including machine settings for spiralbevel gear manufacturing, design of gear geometry, tooth pattern and tooth topography.The gears shall meet all requirements of the specification. The gear sets (pinion and gear) shall be made from steel alloy CEVM 9310 per AMS6265.The gears shall be made per NASA drawings RTAPS010001(gear) and RTAP010002 (pinion). Therequired geometry is noted on the two drawings except for two modifications:A. The spline stub pilot hole on the pinion drawing RTAP010002 current dimension(1.2503-1.2502) should be changed to 1.2500+ 0.0005.B. Note 7 on drawings RTAPS010001(gear) and RTAP010002 (pinion), Vibrohone bevel gearteeth after shot peen to 16rafinish or better. Source to be approved by NASA, shall bechanged to: Vibrohone or slurry deburr with aluminum oxide or grind to a 16RA finish the bevel gear teeth after shot peen to 16RA finish or better. Source to be approved byNASA.Heat treatment, hardness, and case requirements of the gears shall meet thespecifications noted in NASA drawings RTAPS010001(gear) and RTAP010002 (pinion). The gears serial numbers shall be identified with permanent marking. After final grind, the gears shall be protected using good industry practice to maintainthe gears free of dings, scratches, and corrosion. Gears delivered with corrosion orhandling damage will not be accepted.Documents showing compliance with this specification shall be delivered with the gearsincluding the following:A. The Contractor shall supply legible copies of quality control checks and measurementsmade to make certain the delivered gears meet the part geometry specified on the drawing.B.The Contractor shall supply a legible copy of certification and quality controlsof the heat treatment process.Actual process steps, time, and temperatures used shallbe documented.Copies of certification of case depth and surface hardness requirementsshall be provided.C.The Contractor shall supply legible copies of results from nital etch andmagnetic particle inspection checks.D.The Contractor shall supply legible copies of results from the check for surfaceroughness requirements for the active gear profile. NOTE: REFER TO THE ATTACHED FILE FOR THE GEAR DRAWING AND PINION DRAWING.The provisions and clauses in the RFQ are those in effect through FAC 2005-51.This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1.The NAICS Code and the small business size standard for this procurement are 333612 and500 respectively. The offeror shall state in their offer their size status for thisprocurement.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.Delivery to NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Road, Cleveland, OH 44135 of 4sets of spiral bevel gears is required by August 31, 2011 and the balance of 46 sets ofspiral bevel gears and the electronic Gleason summary report by September 30, 2011.Delivery shall be FOB Destination.NOTE for those proposing shipping costs: any costs for shipping shall be included in thequoted price of each item.
