Description
NOTICE OF INTENT The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source, firmfixed price contract, in accordance with FAR Part 13, using Simplified Acquisition Procedures, to Dr. Francis Green and the University of Calgary, 2500 University Drive NW, Calgary, AB T21N 1-N4. The services to be provided by this contractor include: pathological evaluation of 720 lung tissue slides or inflammation, hyperplasia, lesions, and fibrosis; comparison of time course and dose response for exposure to Iraq dust, a standard ambient PM, and crystalline silica; and submission of a final report of the pathologica analysis. Dr. Green appears to be the only vendor able to provide these services, given that the was the pathologist on the first study and consistency of pathological interpretation between the two studies is essential. In addition, Dr. Green is a board certified human anatomical pathologist, internationally recognized as an expert in pathological analysis of pneumoconiosis, and served as the pathologist for the initial NIOSH/DOD study of Iraq dust. No other vendor has the ability to meet these qualifications. No Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued based upon this Notice of Intent. Any interested companies are welcome to submit their credentials and ability to provide these services, via email, to vfz7@cdc.gov. Include reference #2011-94250. Please submit any responses by 4/13/2011.
