Description
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a sole source fixed-price purchase order under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)), Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Advanced Measurement Technologies, Inc. (AMETEK). The purpose of this purchase order is to obtain TWO Alpha Ensemble 8, EIGHT ENS-U450 Ion-implanted detectors, and ONE ENS8U450 for the USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine center. The Alpha Spec system that consists of 16 independent and ultra-low background Si barrier detectors is required to measure low-level environmental radioactivity in marine and coastal material for a number of existing a and planned PCMSC studies. The ORTEC system, produced solely by AMETEK, provides features that are required such as: The integrated spectrometer hardware system hast provide 16 independent channels each comprising vacuum chamber, digital signal processing electronics multi-channel analyzer and computer interface, the 2x8 channel spectrometer shall be modular, and based upon dual removable module each of which shall include two channels with computer controlled chamber vacuum and pressure regulations, the integrated spectrometer can require only a single connection to vacuum, main power and USB to be fully operation when attached to a computer running the relevant software, and the integrated spectrometer is useable as a bench-top or rack mounted instrument, and it shall be possible to configure at least 16 such spectrometers (128channels) on a single computer. The ORTEC alpha systems are required to maintain consistency with current systems owned by the PCMSC Team. The system needs to be compatible to ensure consistency of data collection, minimize training for operation maintenance, and ensure compatibility of software and other associated hardware. NO SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROCUREMENT. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of meeting the USGS requirement as stated herein may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the Agency (FAR 5.207(c)(15)(ii)). All questions or comments regarding this procurement shall be addressed in writing to Zachary Buss, at zbuss@usgs.gov. This notice and any resulting solicitation or contract conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-42, Effective 16 July 2010.The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing).
