- Description
- Laser Head The Army Contracting Command (ACC) Contracting Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 is conducting a Market Survey on behalf of the Project Manager Towed Artillery Systems (PM-TAS) and RDECOM-ARDEC to identify laser technology capable of meeting the performance, environmental and space claim requirements of the M777A2 Lightweight Towed Howitzer. Description: This Sources Sought is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation on the part of PM-TAS or RDECOM-ARDEC. The purpose of this Sources Sought is to identify qualified vendors that have qualified LASER designs and/or are capable of meeting the following requirements: Power Supply oPower supplied by constant current of 60 amps +/- 3 amps for the pulse duration and compliance of 205 VDC +/-10V Laser Pulse oSquare wave 15-20 ms pulse oAverage energy density of 13 J/cm^2, from 100 mm to 960 mm measured from the output aperture of the laser oProfile of the output beam can be multimode and randomly polarized oSustained Pulse rate: 4 pulses per minute oMaximum Pulse rate: 8 pulses per minute for 2 minutes Environmental oGun Fire Shock (1,000 G lateral in all directions, 3,000 G axial in both directions, half-sign wave, 600 Hz) oTransportation Vibration (two wheeled trailer, highway, secondary, cross country, air cargo (jet and propeller), rail, and shipboard) oOperating Temperature - 50 to + 240 degrees F oNo external heating or cooling will be designed into the system Physical oWeight: 1.25 lbs (nominal) oDimensions (maximum):.875" diameter x 4.6" Schedule oPrototype available in 120 days oFull Rate Production 365 days after prototype This laser is being sought to support a ignition system upgrade to the M777A2 howitzer. Approximately 1,000 M777A2 howitzers will be retrofitted and spares will be required for the next 7 to 10 years. Information pertaining to all laser technologies capable of meeting the above performance and schedule requirements should be submitted. All submissions will need to verify safe operations of the proposed technology in all environments. In addition, submissions of laser designs that are not fully compliant with all requirements are encouraged so that PM-TAS and RDECOM-ARDEC may assess the capabilities of all currently available laser technologies. As a result of this Sources Sought a Request For Proposal (RFP) may be issued to develop a fully compliant laser. A full specification will be released should this occur. All interested sources are encouraged to submit their abilities/capabilities no later than 15 days from date of this publication to: Miss Christie Vicci, CCJM-ET Bldg. 322, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000; email: Christie.vicci@us.army.mil. Please include company name, address, telephone number, point of contact, brochures/literature, etc., and any prior performance relating to this requirement. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. Please be advised that the Government will not pay for any information submitted under this announcement. Electronic submittals are preferred.
