- Description
- Introduction/Statement of Intent This is to announce the continuation of the existing contract, DTFAWA-07-C-00028, with Black Box Network Solutions (Black Box). This procurement will be a two-year extension of the contract to supply the FAA with SONET Add-Drop Multiplexers (ADM), Remote Monitoring Systems (RMS) and other associated hardware and services. Total Estimated Value and Period of Performance The total estimated value of this two-year extension will be $1,750,381 increasing the value of the current contract ceiling from $7,700,000 to $9,450,381. The current contract ends April 30, 2012 and the extension is for the period May 1, 2012 through April 30, 2014. Authority The authority for this single source extension is found in AMS policy clause 3.2.2.4 Single-Source Selection. Reasons for Single-Source An extension of the Black Box contract provides the FAA requirement for standardization of equipment in the National Air Space (NAS) as well as provides the ability to use the existing FAA Academy equipment training course. The incumbent has demonstrated the capability to execute all FAA requirements for the contract (both technical and management). They understand and facilitate the FAA quality review process and can accommodate the requirements for timely delivery of equipment orders. It is imperative for the program office to have a vendor who can achieve this fast turnaround. Black Box is the only known source who can satisfy the delivery requirements within the needed timeframe. The program office has an immediate need for this equipment and a new procurement would take two to three years from award to deployment. Questions Any questions or clarifications on this extension should be directed to the FAA Contract Officer by e-mail to Dixie.harper@faa.gov, no later than the close of business March 31, 2011.
