- Membership in the Palmyra Atoll Research Consortium (PARC) As a dues paying member of PARC, USGS receives the following:--Enables 7 USGS employees to use PARC on-site facilities for up to 180 man-days on the atoll, to conduct research and monitoring for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and PARC for restoration and preservation of Palmyra Atoll natural resources; to develop and implement restoration and conservation tools for adaptation to sea level rise that will be applicable to other Pacific islands--Participation in semi-annual science meetings and in quarterly (or otherwise periodic) executive, science, operations, and finance committees--Opportunities for field research in an undisturbed island ecosystem --Use of secure web support and access to the following databases (not accessible to the public):o Literatureo Remote sensingo Preliminary research reportso Unpublished datao Meeting minuteso Proposal documents--Use of facilities--Use of laboratories, equipment, and boats--Use of dormitories Membership in PARC will allow up to seven USGS scientists round trip air travel from Honolulu, HI, to Palmyra Atoll and use of the facilities at the atoll for up to 180 man-days.
