- The VA Des Moines Contracting Office, 3600 30th Street, Building 2, Room 214, Des Moines, IA is seeking vendors capable of providing the VA Central Iowa Health Care System, Des Moines Division, substance abuse housing for the housing of overflow substance abuse patients at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System. Contractor will provide both housing at the contractor's site and transportation for the veterans to and from the Des Moines VA. The substance abuse residential housing requirement encompasses monitoring the veterans to ensure a safe, clean and sober place to stay while attending the VA daily (including weekends and holidays) for treatment. The contractor will be required to provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week supervision and secure/dispense any medications. The contractor will be required to provide breakfast daily and snacks nightly. The estimated number of veterans housed daily is a minimum of 5 veterans per day with a maximum of 10 veterans per day. The contractor will be given 72 hours notice of an additional requirement over the 5 bed minimum. The anticipated contract period is from June 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012 with four additional twelve month option periods. It is contemplated that the contract effective date shall be June 1, 2011. If however, the administrative determinations have not yet been completed and award has not been made, the contract will become effective as soon as practicable with no additional cost to the Government for any elapsed time from the original effective date. The solicitation is intended to be available on or about April 1, 2011. The VA intends, but does not guarantee, to award an Indefinite Quantity Indefinite Delivery Firm Fixed Price Contract in response to this synopsis and the solicitation. No responses are required to this synopsis. This synopsis includes a complete copy of the solicitation and d all responsible sources may submit written offers to the solicitation which, if timely received, shall be considered by the Government. OFFERS MUST BE COMPLETE AND PROVIDE ALL INFORMATION REQUIRED IN THE SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS. Any questions must be submitted in writing to sarah.davis4@va.gov.
