- Veterans Integrated Service Network VISN 1 518/90C VAMC Bedford RCT of Telemedicine Interventions in OSA Project Notice of Intent to award sole source contract. This is not a solicitation. Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 1 518/90C VAMC Bedford) intends to solicit, negotiate and award a contract for one Research Assistant for four aspects of this project. This vendor is highly specialized in abdominal scanning to assess visceral fat this is critical to the success of the research project. Knowledge of abdominal physiology, ultrasound scanning methodologies, and measurement techniques are key to the analysis of the data. This vendor has been through a comprehensive research training program to understand all of the techniques and methodologies to perform this analysis. This vendor has participated on this program over the last couple months and therefore has knowledge of the research protocol and all of the study requirements. Transactions of this nature are required due to the very nature of the VA's research efforts. Individuals with a very specific skill set are required This vendor is VA vetted completed the background check. This project is winding down and might not entail a full 18 months time frame to finish reporting the findings and create the report. Statement of Work Richard Duong. Services are needed to collect the necessary data to determine the impact of interventions on regional fat distribution and upper airway dimension for the research project entitled An RCT of Telemedicine Interventions for OSA. In addition, services are needed to perform preliminary reviews of polysomnographic studies to ensure that signal quality is sufficient for scoring. An individual with detailed knowledge of the study protocol, data collection, and quality control procedures is required and shall perform the following: "Measure upper airway cross-sectional area during quiet tidal breathing using acoustic reflection technique. "Determine subjects' abdominal fat using ultrasound and measure weight and height. "Review polysomnographic studies for adequacy of EEG, SaO2, and Nasal Pressure signals. "Review scientific literature and develop telecommunication dialogue to motivate behavior change in research subjects. "Administer food frequency questionnaire. "Assess physical activity using paper and pencil tests as well as accelerometer. "Review medical charts to determine subject eligibility for research project. "Help enter, process, and clean data collected to get it ready for data analysis. "Perform other duties as needed and as related to the study protocol Services are required Monday through Friday, 7:00am until 3:30pm or as arranged with the lab. The duty station will be the Jamaica Plain facility of VA Boston Healthcare facility located at 150 Huntington Avenue. This award is a firm-fixed price (FFP) contract with a period of performance from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012 with One Option Year. The authority for this action is FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source. This notice contains information current through FAC2005-45. The NAICS is 561110.
