Description
Statement of WorkReplace Underground Water LineValley Forge National Historical Park1400 N Outer Line DriveKing of Prussia, PA 19406-1009 1.0 OBJECTIVE In accordance with Wage Determination, General Decision Number: PA100005 01/14/2011 PA5 A) Replace an estimated 580 to 640 feet of 2 inch underground water line from the Visitor Center to the Lower Visitor Center Restroom. See attachment A for approximate water line location. B) The scope of work has been prepared from the current knowledge of the physical conditions and previously disclosed surveys and work activities. A site visit is highly encouraged. Detailed drawings of existing conditions are not available. 2.0 STATEMENT OF WORKA) Install temporary construction barrier tape, traffic cones, or signage to alert traffic and trail users of construction. Flagmen are required when equipment impacts vehicular traffic. Any road sidewalk or trail closures are to be coordinated with the parks COTR B) Completely remove existing water line dispose of all piping/material off-site. Excavation method is to the discretion of the contractor. The water line passes under an asphalt road and trail as well as a concrete sidewalk, the contractor may bore underneath the roadway and trails in a manner that will not disturb the asphalt or sub surfaces of the road, trail, or walkways at this location. If a direct excavation method is used the contractor is responsible to repair the asphalt road and trail using a hot patch repair of the sections and concrete sidewalk or curbing that is disturbed the contractor shall replace the complete section of walkway or curbing with a park approved concrete that as closely as possible matches the existing concrete. The existing water line is buried approximately 36 inches below grade. C) Furnish and install new water line, estimated between 580 to 640 feet of 2 inch 200 pound tested polyethylene of piping. 12 inches of screenings or sand is to be installed above and below the pipe to protect the polyethylene. Water line is to be installed with top of pipe no less than 48 inches below grade in the same location as the old line. All fittings are to be stainless steel or brass with marine grade stainless steel or the equivalent clamps. The new waterline will be brought through the visitor center wall at connect to the existing brass pipe on the inside The line will "T' off to extend into the water fountain pit and terminated in the pit with a ball valve. A curb stop valve in a valve box will be located in the line approximately 20 feet from the Lower Visitor Center Restrooms final placement to be determined by the Parks COTR. The contractor shall field verify the exact length of piping required prior to installation. The contractor shall ensure that the new water line is correctly installed and tied into the two associated buildings. D) Backfill disturbed in 8 inch lifts compacted to 90% of the Standard Proctor. Rake, seed, and hay area for full restoration of original landscape. Any excess dirt shall be removed by the contractor and disposed of off-site. 3.0 SAFETY REQUIREMENTS A) While performing work, the contractor shall comply with OSHA standards and all standard safety practices and procedures applicable to the work. B) The park will designate staging areas for equipment/materials storage and access. C) Visitor safety is imperative - all area of work must maintain a high safety alert for visitor traffic utilizing signage or orange fencing and cones. 4.0 GENERAL NOTES A) It is highly recommended that the Contractor verify all measurements regarding this contract by making a site visit. B) A site visit has been scheduled with the designated Contracting Officer's Technical Representative, Please call Mr. Boice for further details and meeting arrangements at 610-783-1024. Any questions that arise during the site visit, prior to proposal submission, shall be made in writing and submitted to the Contracting Office via email Kever_swafford@nps.gov. 5.0 SCHEDULE A) Contractor shall mobilize within 15 days of receipt of the notice to proceed and be completed within 45 days. B) Work is to be performed during the hours of 7am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. No work is to be performed on Saturday or Sunday or on federallyrecognized holidays (unless otherwise authorized). C) Performance Period - period of performance is date of award through 1 year.
