- The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to purchase software proprietary to one manufacturer as set forth in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 8.405-6 "To an item peculiar to one manufacturer." As it stands, Compuware Corporation is the only known manufacturer of the below listed software. The current mainframe software licensing ceiling for Abend-AID, File-AID and Strobe products are 80,000 Gartner MIPS; the new ceiling requested is 85,000 Gartner MIPS, a total increase of 5,000 MIPS. The cost for maintenance will also increase for this year and all of the option years. The requirement for additional mainframe software licensing is due to mainframe hardware upgrades. Any vendor capable of providing software that can perform the essential requirements must present electronic/written evidence of such capabilities by March 11, 2011 and shall reference SSA-NOI-11-00002. The evidence must include a discussion of how the software would satisfy the proposed requirements. The Government does not intend to pay for information received and does not intend to provide evaluation results to the sender.
