- Description
- This project consists of segments of trail construction and reconstruction along 5.25 miles of trail including: tread work; turnpike construction; tread stabilization; shallow stream ford construction; puncheon construction; trail obliteration; ditch construction; rock retaining walls; culverts; rock cairn construction; treated timber post and sign installation; rolling dips; and the fabrication and erection of a 32-foot span 6-foot wide trail bridge. Some rock blasting is necessary. No Wilderness is included in this project. The project is located on the Madison Ranger District of the US Forest Service, and on adjacent BLM lands. It is located 9 air-miles northwest of Ennis, Montana. It can be reached by driving north from Ennis, Montana, on Highway 287 approximately 6.5 miles to the junction with County Road 29. Turn right (East) towards Ennis Lake on Road 29. Travel approximately 4 miles and turn left up the Beartrap Canyon. The Pot Trail begins three miles from the trailhead at the second junction of Pot and Trail Creek Trails. It is estimated that the Notice to Proceed for project work will be issued about May 15, 2011. FAR 36.204 - Disclosure of the magnitude of construction projects: Price Range is between $100,000 - $250,000. Camping will be allowed in close proximity to the project site in an area approved by the COR. Riding and pack stock may be used to transport personnel, supplies, materials, and equipment to and from, and within the project area. Commonly accepted ("Leave No Trace"), low impact stock-handling techniques shall be used to minimize the impact from stock on National Forest land. A site visit is not planned.
