- The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 7 Network Contracting Activity, Augusta, GA intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) sole source contract with The American Red Cross Southeast Division Blood Center, under authority of FAR 6.302-1. The intent is to award a Firm Fixed Price Contract for one base year and two year option periods. A justification for other than full and open competition has been prepared in support of this acquisition. This procurement is for blood, blood products and testing to be supplied on a routine and emergent basis for seven VA Medical Centers located in the Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina area. All blood shall be tested as required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). This is a sources sought to determine the availability of potential sources having the skills and capabilities necessary to perform/provide the SPECIFIED BRAND NAME OR EQUIVALENT EQUIPMENT. All interested vendors are invited to provide information to contribute to this market survey/sources sought including, commercial market information. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (Service Disabled/Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB/VOSB), Hub-zone, 8(a), small, small disadvantage, woman-owned small business, or large business) relative to NAICS 621991, Blood and Organ Banks (size standard $10 million). Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. This Notice of intent is Not a REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements by submitting literature and documentation, detailing their experience in providing these products, to the Contracting Officer via email or fax at 334-395-4070. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
